Nine Generations
They arrived in waves

Gen V (Unova, 2010) added the most at 156. Gen VI (Kalos, 2013) added the fewest: just 72. The franchise never stopped growing.

18 Types
Water leads the way

134 species carry Water as their primary type (base forms only). Normal (118) and Grass (103) follow. At the bottom: Fairy (29), Ice (31), Ghost (35).

Power Levels
The stat curve
180 to 720

Every species has a Base Stat Total. Sunkern sits at 180. Arceus peaks at 720. Most cluster between 400 and 500, with later generations trending slightly higher.

Legendary and Mythical Pokémon make up ~9% of all species but define the mythology of every generation.
