Thirty years ago, on a delayed flight from Kansas City to Phoenix, a Minnesotan and a Nebraskan became seatmates and, two years on, got married.
Practice puzzle. It does not touch your streak or today's stats.
Kept 'Phoenix' or 'Kansas City'? Where the plane went and where it sat. The best wrong words here: 'delayed' is the reason two strangers had hours to talk, and 'flight' is the whole setting in one word. Kept 'Minnesotan' or 'Nebraskan'? Who they were before. 'Seatmates' is what they became. This one really happened. In October 1996 Jeff Larson drove 400 miles from Minneapolis to Kansas City for a standby ticket to Phoenix. The flight was delayed five hours. He noticed a redhead in the gate area, Salesia from Omaha, and when the plane boarded with open seating he took the seat beside her. Three hours later they had a first date planned in Phoenix, and she still has the napkin he wrote her a poem on. They changed their flights to go home together, he drove her back to Omaha when hers was delayed again, and six months on he moved there. They married about two years after the flight, have six kids and a painting company, and this week flew the same airline again to mark thirty years since that seat. KETV Omaha, 19 October.
