Kept 'woman', 'complaints' or 'ignored'? That is who did it and why, and it is the part that will annoy you most, but the five has to say what happened. Kept 'arranged'? That is how she did it. Kept 'soon'? That is the joke, the speed of it, once the rubbish stopped being rubbish. Kept 'bedding', 'bottles' or 'alley'? That is the pile and the place.
This one really happened. Mary Courtney lives beside an alleyway linking Broomfield Road and Kensington Road in Coventry. Rubbish had been building up in it: a pushchair, bedding, a trolley, bin bags, and empty fizzy drink bottles filled to the brim with urine. She reported it through the FixMyStreet website and raised it with local representatives, and it stayed where it was. She says it was taking a toll on her mental health. 'I think it is a biohazard,' she told the BBC. 'What if kids think it is a bottle of orange pop?' Out of what she called desperation she installed a temporary art display in the middle of the waste. The rubbish was cleared shortly afterwards. The council has been approached for comment.
