Sam and Ryan Aubrey-Williams, from Sandwich in Kent, adopted Miss Beetle, a two-year-old Patterdale terrier cross spaniel, from the RSPCA Sussex North and Brighton Branch on 4 September, The Argus reported.
“We’ve been looking for a rescue dog for a couple of years,” Sam Aubrey-Williams said. “We always say we’d adopt, but somehow we’d never been picked.” They spotted her on the animal centre’s TikTok account.
Before the RSPCA took her in, Miss Beetle had been kept in a crate all day and had never been outside. “When she came to us she was very nervous,” said Ann Bolton from the branch.
Twenty days after the adoption, the couple married at Sandwich Guildhall. “She walked down the aisle with us, we were hand in hand and she was in the middle, and she was there when we were getting married,” Sam said.
At home, Ryan said, “She is a curtain twitcher, she likes to look out the window.”
Carry a story in five words
We run a game called Long Story Short: one real news sentence a day, and you keep the five words that carry it. Today’s is below. Do play.
How to play
One real news sentence. The job is to keep the five words that carry the story and let the rest go, then guess. Blue means the right word in the right place, orange the right word in the wrong place.
Yesterday: The speed cameras at a crossroads in rural England are fake: after 11 crashes in four years, villagers knitted them, plus zebras and hi-vis for a dummy traffic cop. The five were villagers knitted fake speed cameras.
