The Woodbrook neighborhood in Tallahassee, Florida, has named its pickleball and tennis courts after Jimmy Petrandis, WCTV reported on 2 November. The neighborhood did it last week, just before his 91st birthday.

Friends and the people he plays with told the station that Petrandis is on the court almost every day and can beat players half his age.

They said they wanted to celebrate a man who shows that age is no reason to sit on the sidelines, and that they hope the courts will always be full of good games and good friends.

A black sign by the fence now reads Jimmy Petrandis Pickleball and Tennis Courts, 2026, under a pair of crossed paddles.
