Kept 'dead'? That is what everyone thought, and 'alive' already says they were wrong. 'Landfill' is where, 'noon' is when, 'supervisor' is who found it, and 'motionless' and 'certain' describe a mistake. The poop is the whole story, because it was the only thing the bird did. 'Bald' stays because that is what the headline says, bald eagle, and 'it' goes because the eagle is now named. This one really happened. Daniel Barber runs the Cook County landfill in south Georgia, and just after midday on Wednesday 26 August he found a bald eagle lying on the ground and took it for dead. Then it pooped. He rang the sheriff's office, and the eagle went to Quailwood Animal Hospital in Tifton, where the vet was out of state and phoned in the treatment. Nobody expected it to last the night. On Thursday morning it was standing up, staring into the camera. On Saturday it flew off over a lake called Paradise while a few hundred people watched.
