Enfield tells Utterson about a small ugly man called Hyde who trampled a girl, then paid with a cheque signed by Dr Jekyll.

Utterson worries about Jekyll's will, which leaves everything to Hyde. He waits by the door and meets Hyde. He hates him on sight.

Chapter 3: Dr Jekyll Was Quite at Ease →
At dinner, Utterson asks Jekyll about Hyde. Jekyll goes pale but says he can get rid of Hyde any time he likes.

Chapter 4: The Carew Murder Case →
A maid sees Hyde beat an old man to death. The victim is Sir Danvers Carew. Utterson takes the police to Hyde's rooms.

Chapter 5: Incident of the Letter →
Jekyll shows Utterson a letter from Hyde saying he has gone. Utterson's clerk notices the handwriting looks like Jekyll's.

Chapter 6: Incident of Dr Lanyon →
Jekyll shuts himself away. Lanyon has had a terrible shock and dies. He leaves Utterson a letter to open only after Jekyll dies.

Utterson and Enfield see Jekyll at his window. His face suddenly fills with terror. He slams the window shut.

Poole fetches Utterson. Something in the lab has a mask on and is not Jekyll. They break the door down. Hyde is dead on the floor.

Chapter 9: Dr Lanyon's Narrative →
Lanyon's letter. He watched Hyde drink a potion and turn into Jekyll. That is what killed him.

Chapter 10: Henry Jekyll's Full Statement of the Case →
Jekyll's own story. He made the potion to free his bad side. Hyde got stronger. Jekyll lost control. This is the end.
